Workshop organized on, “Advanced Tools & Techniques in Post Genomic Era”, by Central Molecular Research Laboratory, Biochemistry Department, SGRRIM&HS, Patel Nagar, Dehradun- UK.
On 27/04/2017 a workshop entitled, “Advanced Tools and Techniques in Post Genomic Era”, was organized by Central Molecular Research Laboratory, Biochemistry Department, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dehradun. Students, faculties from different Universities and Colleges took part in this scientific meet which includes delegates from AIIMS Rishikesh, Guru Nanak Khalsa College Yamunanagar, Haryana, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana and different colleges of in & around Dehradun including; SBSPGI, SGRR(PG) College, PLM Govt. College Rishikesh, Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Pauri, Garhwal, DAV(PG) College Dehradun, Uttaranchal (PG) College. Students and faculty members from various disciplines, including Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, & Chemistry actively participated. Workshop stated with the Guest Lecture given by Mr. Deepak Sharma, Sr. Scientific officer, Panacea Biotech, Chandigarh, talked on the advancements in the field of vaccines, its production at Industrial level, quality checks and the applications of the vaccine industries. He also told that the Hexavalent vaccine (Easy Six) which is latest in the market provides immunity against Diphtheria, Haemophilus infections, Hepatitis-B Virus, Pertussis, Poliomyelits, Tetnus with a single shot (dose). Mr. Deepak Sharma also guided the trainees and delegates about the career opportunities for the Life Science Candidates, how the vaccines companies can be a good opportunities for their careers. Dr. Narotam Sharma, Scientist at Central Molecular Research Laboratory told the delegates that CMRL is about to collaborate with Panacea Biotec, Baddi and Chandigarh units for placements of their trainees. Students were given hands on training on advanced tools/instruments at Central Molecular Research Laboratory Biochemistry Department, SGRRIM&HS. 135 students from different states of North India attended the workshop. Students were benefited with the hands on training on tools and techniques like Real Time PCR, Relative quantification of the gene, SDS PAGE, Concept of Biosafety level 2 & 3 laboratories and many more.
A the end all the delegates were given certificate of participation, in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Nita Garg, HOD Biochemistry, Dr. Narotam Sharma, Dr. Sumita Sharma, Dr. Gazala A. Tahir, Dr. Ishita Gupta and Mr. Satish C Nautiyal.
