Dehradun. Successful Cardiac procedure has been done at the Cardiac deptt. of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital by Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) technique. TAVR cardiac procedure is the most modern and effective TAVR cardiac procedure technique in India and world. It’s significant to mention that TAVR technique has been used for the very first time in India in the year 2011. This is a matter of pride and outstanding achievement for Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital as well as whole medical fraternity of Uttarakhand. Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj has expressed his congratulations and showered his divine blessings on Cardiologist & Cath Lab Director Dr. Tanuj Bhatia and his entire team for the successful procedure carried out by them via TAVR technique.
Mr. Radhey Shyam, a 74 years old resident of Dehradun was suffering from heart related disease since long time. Due to the heart disease, he was complaining of breathlessness, difficulty in walking, mild cough, heaviness in chest and sudden fainting. In medical science, this disease is called Aortic Stenosis. Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s senior heart diseases specialist and Cath Lab Director Dr. Tanuj Bhatia carried out initial investigations and tests. In view of the old age and high risk of the surgical procedure. Dr. Tanuj Bhatia took the decision of treating the patient by TAVR technique. In the procedure that lasted for 3 hours at the ultra modern Cath Lab of the hospital, successful treatment of the patient was done. The patient is perfectly healthy after the treatment and was discharged from the hospital in just two days of the hospital.
AORTIC STENOSIS: SURGERY VERSUS TAVR TECHNIQUE
Aortic Stenosis can be treated by Open Heart Surgery and by TAVR technique. The treatment of Aortic Stenosis is highly complicated and full of risks if treated by Open Heart Surgery method. In comparison to this, under TAVR technique, the patient is kept admitted in the hospital for just 3 to 4 days and after that is easily discharged from the hospital. For old people above 60 years of age, TAVR technique is the life saving technique for the treatment of Aortic Stenosis and is like a boon for the patients.
“On 16th April 2002, TAVR technique was used for the very first time successfully in France in the procedure of a heart patient. It’s extremely pleasing, that this TAVR technique was used on 16th April 2022 at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital in the procedure of the heart patient and was successful. It’s worth mentioning that the risk is far less in procedure via TAVR technique as compared to heart surgery. Thus, TAVR technique is just like a boon to the heart patients. TAVR technique is very successful in old patients above the age of 60 years also.”
