WORLD I.V.F. DAY CLEBRATED WITH FLYING COLOURS AT SHRI MAHANT INDIRESH HOSPITAL

Dehradun. World I.V.F. Day was celebrated at the I.V.F. Centre of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital with flying colours. In 1978, on today, the very first Test Tube Baby of the world was born by I.V.F. technique in England. Since then, every year 25 th July has been celebrated as World I.V.F. day. To mark this occasion, various programmes were organized at the I.V.F. Centre of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. In the programme, child-less couples fighting infertility as well as children born by various techniques (I.U.I., I.V.F., I.C.S.I.) participated. The parents shared the memoirs they had with I.V.F. Centre. They gave their blessings and thanked the doctors and staff of the I.V.F. Centre of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.

On Thursday, the programme was started at the auditorium of I.V.F. Centre jointly by Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Ashok Nayak, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent DR. Ajay Pandita, HOD, Deptt. of Obs. & Gyn., Dr. Vinita Gupta, Incharge, I.V.F. Centre, Dr. Aakriti Gupta and Dr. Archana Tandon. In the programme, childless couples fighting infertility, more than 70 children born born using various techniques (I.U.I., I.V.F. and I.C.S.I.) and their parents participated enthusiastically. The parents cut the cake with their children and made this moment memorable. The children were distributed gifts by the I.V.F. Centre.

Over the occasion, Dr. Aakriti Gupta said that the meaning of I.V.F. is In Vitro Fertilization. In common language, this is also called Test Tube Baby. This is the process in which couples who had failed in conceiving pregnancy in the natural manner get pregnancy by the artificial manner. She said that all the ultra modern facilities of I.V.F. treatment are available at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. In the programme, Embryologist Ajeet Sharma, Staff Priyanka, Pooja, Usha, Preeti, Neha and P.R.O. Simran were honoured. HODs of various deptts., doctors, nursing staff and I.V.F. Centre’s staff participated in the programme.
