With the blessings and support of Honourable Chairman, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, The International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm at  Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (SGRRIM&HS) Dehradun  on 21st June 2025, in accordance with the global recognition of the importance of yoga in promoting holistic health and well-being.

The International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 marks a significant milestone, the 11th anniversary of this global celebration. Under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” this year's observance highlights yoga’s vital role in promoting holistic well-being and environmental harmony.

Objectives:

To raise awareness among students and staff about the benefits of yoga.

To encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.

To integrate the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of future healthcare professionals.

Event Highlights:

1. The celebration commenced at 6:30 AM at  the college Cricket  ground with an introductory speech by Dr.Ashok Nayak , Principal of  SGRRIM&HS. In his address, he highlighted the relevance of yoga in the medical profession, especially for stress management and preventive healthcare.

2. A guided yoga session was conducted by Dr. Bijendra Singh  a certified yoga instructor and his team,covering fundamental asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.

Many MBBS  students of various batches and faculty members participated with great enthusiasm.

3. Following the yoga session, a brief talk was delivered by Dr. Rashmi Singla, Professor of Pharmacology focusing on the scientific aspects of yoga and its role in managing lifestyle disorders such as hypertension, diabetes, and anxiety.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Suman Bala,deputy academic incharge expressing gratitude to the organizing committee, instructors, and participants for their active involvement.

The Yoga Day celebration at SGRRIM&HS Dehradun was a successful event that not only promoted physical and mental well-being but also inspired future healthcare professionals to incorporate yoga in their daily routine as well as in patient care strategies.
